Our Favourite Bangkok Food Blogs

At Taste of Thailand, we love sharing with you not only food we discover and sample as part of our tour, but also the history of Thai food and some popular Thai dishes and how they are made. We are also big fans of reading other blogs – there are some amazing food blogs in Thailand, and we thought we would share with you some of our favourites.

She Simmers (http://shesimmers.com/)

Our mouth just waters every time we look at Leela’s website. After moving to the United States she spent years testing and refining her favorite Thai recipes using the ingredients which she can find in the United States. Her recipes range from classic Thai dishes such as panaeng curry with pork, to ones she has put together playing with ingredients in her kitchen such as spicy green apple salad. Leela’s first cookbook, Simple Thai Food: Classic Recipes from the Thai Home Kitchen was released in May 2014.

Migrationology (http://migrationology.com/)

Mark Wiens explains the simple philosophy behind his blog, There’s nothing I enjoy more than eating and tasting food. And after sampling delicious food, I love sharing it with others”. Mark’s goal is not only to encourage and share mouthwatering food with his readers, but to inspire others to leave their comfort zone and see more of the world. If you read just one post then we recommend that you make it 100 Thai Dishes To Eat In Bangkok (http://migrationology.com/2010/03/100-best-thai-dishes-to-eat-in-bangkok-ultimate-eating-guide/).

A British Girl In Bangkok (http://beirutibrit.wordpress.com/)

Beiruti Brit isin hospitality professional by trade, with Bangkok being her 4th foreign posting since 2010. With blog posts from London, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sri Lanka, Bali and of course Thailand, her passion for food that she wants to share with her readers really comes across. What we particularly love about her Bangkok postings is there is something for everyone from Isaan food at Soi Polo Chicken on Wireless Road (http://beirutibrit.wordpress.com/?s=soi+polo) to the more upper end Opposite Mess Hall (http://beirutibrit.wordpress.com/2013/09/22/opposite-mess-hall-thong-lor-bangkok/)

Oh Happy Bear (http://ohhappybear.com/)

Writer and journalist, Sirin Wongpanit used to have two blogs – one in English and one in Thai before deciding to merge them into one blog Oh Happy Bear. Initially she shared the food that her and her husband enjoyed eating, before beginning to share stories and adventures from their travels. We like how when Sirin writes about restaurants, she shares how much one can expect to pay per head and whether it was value for money as well as giving personal recommendations. Her instagram account is also one of the best that fellow foodies in Bangkok can follow.

BKK Glutton (http://bangkokglutton.com/)

Author of Bangkok’s Top 50 Street Food Stalls, Chawadee Nualkhair also writes this popular Bangkok blog, sharing with us stalls and dishes off the beaten track, such as the selection of Southern Thai dishes she recently enjoyed in the Wang Lung neighbourhood, to her hidden find of Thai chilli dogs on the street. Chawadee’s blog contains detailed descriptions so even those who are not so familiar with Bangkok should be able to find with confidence the places she describes.
